Sprinkles of Life

Hello, again!  It’s been such a long time since I blogged, I had to reset my password, lol!

I am going to be a vendor at a State Nursing conference next month, so I have been on the lookout for card designs that are eye catching and easy to mass produce.  While looking back through the pictures on my phone, I found this one, and decided that it would be perfect!  While I am reading blogs, looking at facebook and checking pinterest, I take pictures of cards I like.  I tried to find this one on pinterest so I could give credit to the original artist, but it didn’t come up in my search, so if anyone knows who made it, please let me know!

I love the bright color combination of Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush and Daffodil Delight.  The splotches of color around the ice cream cone just make my mouth water, thinking about how yummy the ice cream would taste on a hot summer day!  With that being said, I did make just a few minor changes.  I used soft suede for the cone.  For the daffodil delight ice cream, I used crushed curry ink to stamp the image so it would show up better under the sprinkles (which were stamped in Watermelon Wonder ink).  I tried to punch out the cherry with red glimmer paper, but it didn’t work well, so I am thinking of adding some glitter to the cherry.  I did color the stem with a black sharpie.  Instead of a sentiment on a banner, I used one of my new favorite sets-Tin of Cards-directly on the paper.  I highly suggest doing the sentiment first if you plan to do this–I had to scrap several pieces of paper because I am a heavy handed stamper and the sentiment would bleed.  The hardest part of this card is the free hand cutting of the cone, which is not bad if you have nice sharp paper snips.  Here is my version!  I was able to make 10 of these beauties in just a few hours!

This is such a fun, versatile set, and another great thing is that sales benefit the Ronald McDonald house!
